Goldfields Ghana Foundation has confirmed investing $13 million so far in constructing the new Tarkwa and Aboso stadium, which will be the home grounds for Ghana Premier League club Medeama SC.
The mining company is building the 10,400-capacity stadium after Medeama qualified for the CAF Champions League group stage.
Despite earlier reports of Goldfields terminating its contract with Medeama, the company provided updates that the stadium construction budget is $16 million total.
Goldfields stated the stadium is one of the most expensive projects they have funded, besides the Tarkwa to Damang road. There are over $2 million in additional taxes.
Goldfields also provided $100,000 to Medeama for one year of advertising including jersey and bus branding for 2023/2024.
The T&A Park stadium is expected to be completed in March 2024.
Medeama SC will play their next match against FC Samartex this weekend at Akoon Park.
